The season during 1999-2000 was not good for the Bangladesh Tea industry. The crop during the said season was 44.6 million kgs, the lowest in this decade. Except a few months, the general market was very much depressed. Export of tea fell by nearly 11.5 million kgs (July '99-April, 2000). The only bright future of the year was sustained support from internal buyers.
