As George looked round him a glow of appreciative content pervaded his being, the bliss of being where he had wanted to be! Doing what he had wanted to do! Possibly there would be drawbacks, but he would face these later. There sat his aunt, dignifiedas ever, her table elegently equipped, better still, bountifully spread .... no bulgy-eyed monstrosities occupied the downy cushions of those most seductive-looking armchairs, no half-blind sheepdog encumbered the hearth-rug .... a man could test himself comfortably, as he intended to do later.
