The ￡120,000 McLaren P13 is tipped for launch at Geneva next year, with a specification that underscores the company's plan to build only cars that have a technical lead over rivals such as Porsche and Ferrari, according to Mike Flewitt, McLaren's recently appointed chief executive. Flewitt has reviewed McLaren's seven-year plan and confirmed the positioning of the mid-engined P13 as McLaren's entry-level model. He emphasised that, like its siblings, the P13 will use a carbonfibre composite chassis and a version of McLaren's Ricardo-built, ultra-compact twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine, albeit with lower power.
