Participation of Female Headed Households in Small Scale Dairying : A Comparative Analysis With Male Headed Households

The present study has been carried out purposively in mid western zone of Uttar Pradesh. Data were collected through interview schedule from 100 distinct households (50 female headed + 50 male headed). Statistically significant differences were found(P<0.01) in the extent of involvement of respondents in female and male headed households in all the small scale dairying related activities viz; feeding, breeding, health care, management and marketing. The four top ranking activities of females headingtheir households were; preparation and processing of milk products, management, health care and feeding of animals which were ranked 1,11,111 and IV respectively. For the male headed households, ranking was different. It was highest in breeding followedby marketing, health care and feeding of animals.
