Litter size raises a colostrum question

Experience with hyperprolific genotypes in France is showing the rest of the world what to expect as litter sizes continue their steady upward climb year by year. One indication is that we should be prepared for more variable birthweights - but the lightest pigs in the litter will still be worth saving, according to recent remarks by French swine scientists Dr Jean Le Dividich. Addressing an international pig fertility conference arranged in Ireland by Alltech, he reported that the latest average from more than one million litters had moved up to 25,8 pigs weaned per sow/year.
