HIGHLAND, Mich. - It has been three years since LaFontaine Automotive Group opened its flagship store, a centerpiece of green technology. The LaFontaine family spent $15 million to build the dealership here in 2008; about $2 million of that was earmarked for green technology. The building, which replaced an earlier Highland store, is heated and cooled by a geothermal system, recycled materials are used throughout the building, 85 percent of the car wash's water is recycled - and the list goes on.
