摘要

General requirements for future H{sub}2 powertrain systems are high power density, good efficiency, low emissions, a cost efficient production and life cycles comparable to current engine concepts. The hydrogen internal combustion engine (H{sub}2 ICE) fulfils all these requirements and Is therefore expected to play a major role in future powertrain systems. It is generally expected that gasoline and diesel will dominate the vehicular fuel sector in the short-and medium-term but will be replaced by hydrogen in the long term. Vehicles with hydrogen drive will make a major contribution towards sustainability and reducing environmental pollution in the transportation sector.
