THE HURRICANE. Yeah, there is a hurricane. Hot-rod shows or drag races have various crises they have to deal with in the course of a weekend: The churro machine goes on the fritz, an outhouse tips over, a security guard falls asleep and allows unpaying interlopers to sneak in. Those crises can be dealt with. But The Race of Gentlemen, trying to take place for the first time ever on the Pacific Coast in Oceano Dunes just south of Pismo Beach, California, has a freaking hurricane.
