Recent weather extremes in temperature and rainfall have Ontario, Canada farmers looking closely at the decision-making and management practices they will use in coming years. In terms of precipitation, an overall increasing rainfall trend, in addition to extremely low and high levels, has been experienced in recent years. An analysis of precipitation at four locations in southern and eastern Ontario (with data provided by 'Farm Zone' of Canada's Weather Network, a private company offering TV and internet weather data and forecasts) shows average precipitation levels during the last seven years gaining almost every year. The average rainfall in 2000 at these locations (719 millimetres) rose to 1121mm in 2006.
