Qld strategy could save the family farm

CONCERNED arid zone pas-toralists throughout Australia recognise the dilemma facing sheep and cattle grazing. Put simply, without a new approach that ensures economic viability coupled with environmental sustainability, family-run pastoral-ism and the social structure in scattered communities that it supports across the inland, is finished. For this reason pastoralists are taking action to ensure the run down of their industry is stopped. In the Desert Uplands region of western Queensland, pastoralists under the leadership of Aramac cattle producer Lesley Marshall have formed a committee that produced the Desert Uplands Build-up and Development Strategy.
