In the November 2010 column we discussed alternative marketing outlets for wool growers who may want to look beyond the traditional auction-based selling system. We focussed solely on The Merino Company's Wool Pool, and how it operates as an alternative wool marketing channel for producers. This month we take a look at some other options which are also available for producers. The new Michell Direct Wool selling model was launched in October last year and is basically a "no frills" service aimed at providing the grower with a range of selling options at reduced selling fees. Michell has recently launched its new website www.michelldirect-wool.com.au which offers four options to sell wool. Growers can use Michell to sell wool through auction, retained ownership, sell via a grid or through Wooltrade (which we will come to shortly).
