Educating for sustainability

THERE is mounting pressure today on landholders and on people in rural communities to provide answers to some of Australia's most vexing environmental and economic issues. One approach which will help people cope with this pressure is being developedby the Murray-Darling Basin Commission (MDBC) in association with the Australian Association of Adult and Community Education (AAACE). The two organisations are co-operating to produce discussion kits for study groups interested in various environmentaltopics. Kits on blue-green algae, dryland salinity and sustainable rivers will test the process in Australia following the success of similar programs overseas.
