摘要

A new analytical method is presented to evaluate the dynamic deformation and the elastic-plastic stress and strain in rotating machine shafts as result of transient axial forces. This new method has capability to account for the geometric non-linearity, the initial shaft imperfection, the elastic-plastic deformation and the dynamic/transient effects. Proposed method could be used for the evaluation of the shaft performance for various rotating machines under different operation situations. Allowable deflection/axial load values could be calculated with presented method for any rotating machine shaft. A case study is also discussed. New practical notes on the shaft failures with special focus on the axial loading and the fatigue effects are also presented.
