Simmental bulls shatter records at Nappan sale

The huge crowd at the Maritime Beef Test Station in Nappan, Nova Scotia erupted into cheers and applause when Orchard-Hill Big Mack was sold.The 1,697.5 pound Simmental, owned by Steve, Sue, and Chad Dar-ragh of Pugwash, N.S., shattered records April 2 by selling for $16,000. Big Mack had the highest Average Daily Gain —5.25 —among all the bulls in the sale. He also had one of the highest rib eyes, 16.06.Mervyn Ferguson of Belmont, N.S. bought the bull. Bids came in from Saskatchewan and Alberta, but RA Farms of Sackville, New Brunswick was the runner up.
