Qingdao terminal aims for 2014 start-up

Chinese state-controlled Sinopec’s 3mn t/yr Qingdao LNG receiving terminal in Shandong is on track to take delivery of its first commercial imports by the end of this year. Construction is almost complete, with work on the terminal’s jetty and three 160,000m~3 LNG storage tanks already finished. Sinopec is working to resolve administrative and logistical issues, such as difficulties scheduling equipment test runs. The company is in talks with suppliers to secure a commissioning cargo for the terminal. It said in July that it expected the commissioning cargo to arrive in October or November (AGL, June, p13).
