Atlantic basin seaborne arrivals have fallen by over 500,000 b/d since March and are heading towards new lows. Refinery turnarounds in Europe and further increases in North American production have reduced Atlantic basin refiners' demand for long-haul crude, leaving producers to find new markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific. Crude output in the US and Canada reached 10.8mn b/d in April - 1.2mn b/d up on a year earlier. The US now imports around 2.7mn b/d of Canadian crude - 300,000 b/d more than a year ago - while domestic production is almost 1mn b/d higher. Imports from other countries are just 5mn b/d, down from 6.2mn b/d a year earlier. Imports of Nigerian crude are now less than 400,000 b/d, just half of levels two years ago.
