The method involves importing individual or several product data records. Text data, describing a product, and a diagram are combined in an importing data file (4). The data to be imported is directly copied from a computer network. The text data and the diagram are imported in one production step in application software. The product data is protected by eliminating particular information and users. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a data medium containing a computer program for importing data by means of electronic equipment which is embedded in a computer network (B) a computer system which is connected with a network like Internet and Intranet, comprising a computer which is configured as a server system or a client system.
