Indonesia: Growth and potential despite challenges

Indonesia produces more poultry than either Thailand or Malaysia to feed its population of 220 million. With per capita consumption unchanged at 4.4 kg over last year, the industry still holds much promise for growth. Don P Utoyo, Executive Secretaryof the Association of Indonesian Poultry Producers and Coordinator of the newly formed Indonesian Poultry Community Forum (IPCF) told Asian Poultry Magazine that while production has increased, so has demand from a growing population that has caused consumption to remain at a low level.
