The Rossukon-2 exploration well in Block G6/48 in the Gulf of Thailand, near the 2009 Rossukon oil accumulation, has proven a success and will help decide commerciality of the prospect, reported KrisEnergy. Rossukon 2 is located at a water depth of 64m (210ft) and was drilled to a total depth of 1,664m (5,460ft) measured depth. Preliminary well logs indicate that the well intersected around 21m (69ft) true vertical depth (TVD) of net oil-bearing sandstones and 1 1m (37ft) TVD of net gas-bearing sandstones, over five reservoir intervals. The logging programme has been completed and Rossukon-2 has been plugged back The Rossukon-2ST directional sidetrack well has started drilling around 1.3km to the northwest (see story below).
