The European Commission(EC)das confirmed that it has begun proceedings against companies allegedly involved in price fixing in the market for hydrogen peroxide,perborate and percarbonate.A spokesman for the EC's Competition Directorate said a formal statement of objections had been sent to 18 companies and subsidiary firms after its initial inquiries into the alleged cartel.He was unable to identify them,apart from Finland's Kemira,which admitted publicly that it had been asked by the EC to respond formally to questions about its involvement in the hydrogen peroxide market between 1994 and 2001.
