摘要

Understanding the factors that influence human health and cause diseases are one of the major driving forces of bio-medical research. Quantitative proteomic analysis can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of complex protein networking, opening up tremendous opportunities for predicting susceptibility to disease, response to treatment and, perhaps even more challenging, help in prognosis of disease outcome. To address these issues a tremendous diversity of sophisticated techniques are available nowadays. In order to elaborate the functional effects of proteins within their cellular networks and therefore to improve understanding of complex biological processes, it is essential to integrate multiple scientific disciplines, i.e. medicine, chemistry, biology and informatics. In order to generate added-value a reproducible and highly controlled work-flow is the reliable basis for any proteomic investigation, independent from the utilized methodology. Moreover, the need of high performance proteomics is recognized spending much more care on study designs and sample quality to generate added-value.
