Zanganeh in China

Iranian oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh flew to Beijing this week to discuss new oil deals amid signs of an end to sanctions on his country’s oil sector. Zanganeh’s visit follows a framework agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group - the US, UK, France, Russia and China, plus Germany - that would pave the way for a final agreement over Tehran’s nuclear programme by the end of June (see p2). This could lead to a rebound in crude exports just as Chinese refineries start to emerge from maintenance, which will peak in May-June.
