Phase 1 of the Al Ezzel Power Station Comes on Stream

The first phase of the Al Ezzel power station,which is being developed as Bahrain's first independent power project(IPP),has come on stream with generating capacity of 470 MW.Phase 2 of the plant,which will add capacity of a further 480 MW,is scheduled to come on stream in the summer of 2007.The phase 1 facilities,which include four single-cycle gas turbines,were built by Siemens under a 400-million contract.In the second phase,two steam turbines are to be installed.
