China Approves Plans for Including a Paraxylene Unit in the Fujian Petrochemical Complex

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has given the go-ahead for plans to include a 700,000-ton/year paraxylene unit in the refining and petrochemical complex to be developed at Quangang,in the Fujian region,by a joint venture between Fujian Petrochemical Co.Ltd.(FPCL - 50%),Exxon Mobil China Petroleum and Petrochemical Company Limited (25%) and Aramco Overseas Company (AOC - 25%).FPCL is itself a 50:50% joint venture between the province of Fujian and Sinopec Corporation.The final agreement for the implementation of this project was signed in July 2005 (AOG,16 July,2005).
