Prequalified Companies Reportedly Threaten to Pull Out of the al-Zour Refinery Project if it Is Retendered

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Rai al-Aam,most of the nine companies that submitted bids by December for work connected with the construction of the 615,000-b/d al-Zour refinery have reportedly informed their respective agents in Kuwait that they are not prepared to submit fresh bids for the project in the event that Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) issues a new tender or puts back the closing date of the existing tender once again.The bid bonds and bids are valid for a period of three months,i.e.to the middle of March.Al Rai al-Aam pointed out that,after that date,KNPC would face the prospect of the bidders pulling out of the project.
