The French company Total,which already has extensive interests in Nigeria and had a share of production of 242,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day(boe/d)from the country in 2006,has just expanded its activities there significantly.In the space of only 10 days,between 19 and 30 July,Total announced three major decisions,two of which concerned the acquisition of additional exploration interests and the third the start of work on a development project.These decisions,which will have the effect of expanding its licensed acreage and helping to increase its production,are the following:
