Iraq and Jordan Sign MOU for the Construction of a 1-Million B/D Pipeline Between the Two Countries

Iraq and Jordan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) covering cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sectors, Jordan's Petra news agency announced on 20 September. The MOU calls for Iraq to supply crude oil to Jordan through a pipeline, as well as natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and heavy fuel oil, depending on availability. It also provides for a higher committee to be set up under the chairmanship of the Jordanian Energy Minister, Mr. Alaa Batayneh, and the Iraqi Oil Minister, Mr. Abdul-Kareem Luaibi, which will meet every six months. Sub-committees will meet every quarter to coordinate activities and hold consultations on the implementation of the agreement.
