Bontan Corporation Acquires Interests in Three Offshore Tracts Close to the Tamar and Dalit Gas Finds

The natural gas discoveries made at Tamar and Dalit by the consortium led by Noble Energy (AOG, 1 Augv 2009) have attracted the Canadian company Bontan Corporation Inc. into the Israeli upstream. Through its local subsidiary, Bontan has acquired 71.63% interests in two offshore oil tracts and one offshore exploration block located in the Levant basin, 40 km off the Israeli coast. Bontan indicates that the first two blocks, Petroleum Licenses 347 (Mira) and 348 (Sarah), cover a total area of 803 sq km, while the other, Petroleum Preliminary Permit 199 (Benjamin), is around 1,865 sq km.
