Technip and Pireco to Build a Sulfuric Acid Plant in Tunisia for Tunisian Indian Fertilizers

The French company Technip announced on 3 July that the consortium it entered into with the Tunisian firm Petroleum & Industrial Realization Contractors (Pireco) had won an engineering, procurement and construction contract from Tunisian Indian Fertilizers (Tifert) for a sulfuric acid plant to be located at La Skhira. It will have a capacity of 3,600 tons/day. This unit will form part of a larger project, since Tifert plans to produce phosphoric acid from sulfuric acid and phosphate for the manufacture of fertilizers. The plant is due to come on stream in early 2010.
