Preparation of sulfuric acid in sulfuric acid extraction plant, comprises preparing sulfur dioxide containing raw gas, supplying the raw gas for catalytic reaction of sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide and then converting to sulfuric acid
The method for the preparation of sulfuric acid in a sulfuric acid extraction plant (1), comprises preparing a sulfur dioxide (SO 2) containing raw gas (2), supplying the raw gas through a reaction container (9) for catalytic reaction of sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide (SO 3), converting the formed SO 3 to sulfuric acid, and reducing the SO 2-emission of the gas flow (16) by the hydrogenation of a partial flow of the SO 2-containing raw gas with a hydrogen rich gas (18) and by the supply of the obtained hydrogen sulfide (H 2S) containing gas flow with a H 2S-gas scrubber. The method for the preparation of sulfuric acid in a sulfuric acid extraction plant (1), comprises preparing a sulfur dioxide (SO 2) containing raw gas (2), supplying the raw gas through a reaction container (9) for catalytic reaction of sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide (SO 3), converting the formed SO 3 to sulfuric acid, and reducing the SO 2-emission of the gas flow (16) leaving the extracting plant by the hydrogenation of a partial flow of the SO 2-containing raw gas with a hydrogen rich gas (18) and by the supply of the obtained hydrogen sulfide (H 2S) containing gas flow into a H 2S-gas scrubber of a coke-oven gas plant or petrochemical plant. Coke-oven gas is used for the hydrogenation of the SO 2-emission. The gas flow is preheated before allowing into a hydrogenation reactor (20) by heat exchange with the gas flow releasing from the hydrogenation reactor. The SO 2-containing raw gas is produced by burning or catalytic conversion of hydrogen sulfide (H 2) containing gases, which result with the cleaning of coke-oven gases. The gas flow (16) with a SO 2-emission is split into two partial flows, where a first partial flow is led back in the SO 2-containing raw gas and the second partial flow is hydrogenated in the subsequent treatment stage with the hydrogen rich gas. The SO 2-containing raw gas is produced by a two-stage burning of the H 2S-containing gases and the first partial flow is supplied to the raw gas before the second burning stage. The formed SO 3 is absorbed in an absorber in concentrated sulfuric acid. An independent claim is included for a plant for the preparation of sulfuric acid.
