Sohar Power Station Has Increased the Sultanate's Generating Capacity by Nearly One-Quarter

The Sohar power and water complex,which was the first independent water and power project undertaken by the French company Suez in Oman,has increased the volume of electricity fed into the country's power grid by 23%,the Chief Executive Officer of Suez Energy International (SEI),Mr.Dirk Beeuwsaert,announced on 16 December.Mr.Beeuwsaert was speaking on the occasion of the official inauguration of the complex,whose construction started in 2005 and which entered full commercial operation at the end of May 2007.As regards its water production,the Sohar complex has had an equally large impact,since it has boosted the total output of potable water in the Muscat/Batinah region by 65%.
