Hokuriku shuts Tsuruga coal-fired power unit

Japanese utility Hokuriku Electric Power has shut its700MW Tsuruga No.2 coal-fired generation unit because of atechnical problem. Hokuriku closed the unit in central Japan’s Fukuiprefecture on 8 January after finding a water drop inthe exterior wall of a boiler. The utility is investigatingthe problem and it is unclear when the unit will resumeoperations.
