Hokuriku shuts Tsuruga coal-fired power unit

Japanese utility Hokuriku Electric Power has closed the 700MW No.2 unit at its Tsuruga coal-fired power plant because of a technical problem. Hokuriku was forced to shut the unit in Fukui prefecture yesterday after detecting a steam leak from its boiler. The unit is undergoing inspections and it is unclear when it will come back on line.
