In Q2 12, the demand for rental equipment picked up strongly, with many 'household' names, including the Textainer Group and Triton Container, resuming their purchases during this period. The lessors' overall intake exceeded one million TEU in the opening half of 2012, with 90% comprising dry freight units. This was only a little shy of the volume the sector purchased in Hi 11 when, arguably, liner shipping sentiment was much better and cargo volumes significantly firmer.
