FINANCIAL NEWS Year to Mar 2008 Honda's operating margin exceeded Nissan's for the first time in four years in 2006/07 and it remained ahead in 2007/08. Group revenue for the year rose by 8.2% to ￥12,003bn, boosted by higher sales and favourable currency effects. Group operating income was 11.9% higher at ￥953.1bn. The net increase of ￥101bn reflected: ￥170bn - sales and mix; ￥37.6bn - currency effects; ￥11.5bn - cost reductions; ￥(81.8)bn - selling & admin. expense; and ￥(36.1)bn - increased R&D expense.
