Malaysia has identified biotechnology as one of the economic engines that will drive the nation towards a high-income advanced nation by 2020. In the last six years, Malaysia has been actively strengthening its biotechnology ecosystem, developing its local biotechnology sector and creating a niche for itself as a reputable biotechnology hub of Asia. Malaysia's strong conducive environment and growth potential presents a multitude of long-term opportunities for countries with mature biotechnology sectors, such as Japan, to develop new enterprises, new industries, new bases and new market access strategies.
