The Department of Health set 10 Dignity in Care challenges in November 2006, aiming to galvinise healthcare providers into action.1 Services are encouraged to establish dignity 'champions' and dignity 'tests' and there are many suggestions for further action.1'2 However, organisations need to identify which initiatives are likely to be the most effective in their particular setting.
