The final session attempted to summarize pertinent statements and opinions voiced at the workshop into a frame of consensus summary. Controversy exists today regarding the risk of exposure to low-doses (<100 mSv) of ionizing radiation. Extrapolation of high-dose effects to the low-dose region of the dose-response relationship may overestimate the risks of mutagenesis and neoplastic transformation. Although a sub-linear response has been described in multiple experimental studies, there is little or no evidence in experimental studies to suggest that a supralin-ear response occurs in the low-dose region of the dose-response relationship.
