US EPA extends comment period on glyphosate evaluation

The US EPA has decided to allow another 45 days for public comments on its draft biological evaluation of the herbicide, glyphosate. The original comment period had been due to expire on January 26th. The draft evaluation, which was issued last November, found that glyphosate “is likely to adversely affect a signi?cant percent of endangered species and critical habitats”. If the ?nal evaluation agrees with this conclusion, the EPA will consult with federal wildlife services and may subsequently impose use restrictions to protect listed species or habitats.
