Tested Catfish Feed Mills Show No Melamine

Lester Spell, Mississippi's Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, announced that catfish feed made in Mississippi's three largest catfish feed mills have all tested negative for melamine, the ingredient from China that has caused pet food poisoning. Spell's agency took catfish feed samples from Delta Western feed mill in Indianola, Fishbelt feed mill in Moorhead, and Land 0' Lakes feed mill in Macon and tested the catfish feed for melamine. These three mills make approximately 75% to 80% of the catfish feed used in the entire pond-raised catfish industry, which spans several states. The testing was done at the Mississippi State Chemical Laboratory and the test results were released last month.
