German Res sector faces up to virus fallout

German renewable projects are at risk of delay and lost subsidies because of the impacts of the coronavirus, according to industry insiders. Wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) sector participants want the government to extend deadlines for projects awarded capacity under the EEG tender scheme. The coronavirus pandemic means German solar PV projects could face delays, industry association BSW said, adding that large projects could lose subsidies, as the virus pushes back completion dates. Delays may occur in component supply chains, and be exacerbated by construction and administrative staff shortages.
