Russian steelmaker NLMK, gas group Novatek team up to tackle emissions

London—Mining and steel company NLMK has teamed up with Russia’s second-largest gas producer Novatek to develop and implement carbon capture and hydrogen fuel technologies, the companies said Jan. 12. NLMK and Novatek signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of mitigating adverse climate impacts with cutting greenhouse gas emissions the key focus of the link-up. “We are committed to decarbonization and are open to partnerships with all those also keen on the subject, and are pleased that our supplier Novatek happened to be among the first to rise to our call,” NLMK’s spokeswoman told S&P Global Platts.
