Russia's Novatek inks MOU with steelmaker NLMK on CCUS, hydrogen

London—Russian gas producer and LNG exporter Novatek plans cooperation in greenhouse gas reduction projects with steelmaker NLMK Group under a memorandum of understanding signed Jan. 12. Under the MOU, the two intend to cooperate in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) solutions, hydrogen production technologies and the use of hydrogen as a clean-burning fuel, as well as in the development of new products to be used in low-carbon technologies, Novatek said. "NLMK is one of the largest industrial consumers of our natural gas," Novatek chief Leonid Mikhelson said in a statement.
