PsychInfo: Motivation: Why People Do Not Fight Unethical Behavior

I had an accident in a fast-food restaurant. What occurred after that helped me to see why people often do not fight against unethical, bad behavior. I was walking to the table I usually use, when I stumbled over a rug that had been rolled up and placed under the table, sticking out some into the aisle. I started falling down but ended up putting both my hands on the table, preventing a fall to the ground. As a result of all this I ended up having bad pain in my left ankle for a little over 2 weeks. After my ankle started healing my right hand and wrist hurt a lot and I went for an MRI on my hand and wrist, but it showed nothing. As a result of my pain I did not go to my office at the university for over two weeks. It was summer and I did not have to be there, but I missed out on friendly interactions with colleagues, using my computer for the Internet and e-mail, which I do not have on my home computer, and issues that I might have been consulted on such as curriculum, hiring, or other things of importance, had I been there.
