Spay Aware

It's that time of year again. The Irish summer has arrived, and with it comes increased daylight hours and kitten season. At the end of this month, Spay Aware 2017 will launch its annual campaign. Veterinary Ireland has been at the helm of this campaign since its launch. While last year, the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) took over the reins to manage the campaign, there remains a strong veterinary voice, with members of the VICAS committee still very much involved inpromoting and updating its annual message. Neutering (spaying and castration) has become a very topical issue over the last few years, with over-run charities calling out for dogs, and especially cats, to be neutered as early as possible, while members of the public continue to hesitate, wondering whether neutering is the right thing to do for their pet.
