Moscow-Russian pipeline operator Transneft has reassured oil markets over a potential disruption to exports from its Black Sea port of Novorossiisk as a result of further political upheaval in Turkey, saying it has options to redirect oil flows. State-run Transneft would be able to reroute all oil volumes currently shipped via Novorossiisk if Turkey’s Bosporus or Dardanelles straits were closed, Transneft CEO Nikolai Tokarev told reporters Tuesday. Tokarev’s comments come after Turkey temporarily shut the Bosporus to tankers on Saturday, as a security measure amid the attempted coup.
