Enhanced oil production from a North Sea offshore platform by direct oil export

This paper describes the conversion of a producing North Sea Oil Installation from offloading by shuttle tankers to uninterrupted export via a fixed pipeline. Particular mention is made of how the export pump performance was maximised within tight power and pressure limitations. The specification, installation and commissioning of the new Oil Export Pumps and associated equipment are also described. The modified system satisfied significant space, access and lifting constraints and minimised disruption to platform operations during installation and commissioning.
