Purity ethane traded at Mont Belvieu, Texas, has seen its OPIS- benchmark spot price tumble by more than 8% over the last two sessions as the market assesses the potential impact of Hurricane Laura. The simultaneous disappearance of two streams of ethane demand-regional steam cracker feedstock consumption due to plant shut-ins and waterborne exports out of Houston-is likely to have triggered the decline, trade sources say.
