ACC says tarifs damaging US chemical industry

The ACC reiterated its opposition to tarifs after US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer announced Monday that the US will increase the levy on $200 billion in Chinese imports, currently 10%, to 25% on Friday, 10 May. “The risks of continuing to use tarifs as a negotiating tactic with China are simply too high – and any potential benefts still unclear,” says Cal Dooley, ACC’s president and CEO. “We are starting to see signs that the tarifs are disrupting supply chains, cutting of markets, and eroding US chemical manufacturing competitiveness.”
