Indian pharma firms eye Chinese and Japanese markets with rising pricing pressure in west

Increasing price pressures in the North American market,which accounts for nearly a third of India's pharmaceutical exports,is prompting domestic drug makers to explore avenues in new markets like China and Japan,apart from the amplified focus on reviving markets like Africa,CIS,and Europe.Indian regulators are currently working with their Chinese counterparts towards enabling local drug makers to get greater access to the Chinese market by way of expediting timelines for product approvals,according to Mr.Ravi Uday Bhaskar,Director General of Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India(Pharmexcil).
